Why validate Critical User Journeys (CUJs)? Didn’t we already get enough data while defining them? Validation is a step many omit, but it is important. You have created your CUJ framework with goals and tasks and validations to make sure you didn’t miss anything and that your CUJ descriptions make sense to the users.
Goals of validation: Confirm you didn’t miss goals or tasks Confirm that you assigned tasks to goals correctly Validate that the language you use to describe the CUJ goals and tasks is clear to users and they understand it the same way you do. This is key if you’re going to use these CUJ descriptions in surveys and other studies.
Actions:
Ask users to classify their current interaction into the CUJ framework you created or describe a different goal or a task that you might have missed. You can also let users choose tasks out of the whole list of tasks and then check whether your tasks to goal categorization corresponds to that of the users.
