InMoment's history is a sequence of acquisitions. Wootric brought the microsurvey and digital feedback line in 2021. Lexalytics brought text analytics. ReviewTrackers brought review management and Rio SEO brought local search. Each addition widened the listening surface further.
The company itself was then acquired. Press Ganey Forsta announced its acquisition of InMoment in May 2025, and Qualtrics completed its acquisition of Press Ganey Forsta on May 18, 2026. Sprig Overview
Sprig is an enterprise survey platform powered by AI agents. It is built around a narrower job than InMoment's and executes more of that job in one place.
A team using Sprig starts with a research question rather than a listening program. Three specialized agents carry the work. The Design Agent generates a complete, fully programmed study, with response options, logic, and randomization already in place, and checks it for broken or conflicting logic and unclear questions. The Field Agent manages delivery and generates follow-up questions in real time based on responses. The Synthesize Agent produces an evidence-backed report as responses arrive, with themes, summaries, and supporting quotes.
Distribution runs across six channels. Surveys reach users inside web applications and native mobile apps, through email with a custom sending domain, through shareable links and QR codes, and through an external panel for reaching people who are not customers yet.

Neither approach is inherently better for every organization. The right choice depends on your existing investments, your operating model, and how you expect research to evolve over the coming years.
The question worth asking before either demo is which failure your team currently experiences more often. Missing signal because a channel is not covered points toward InMoment. Missing decisions because evidence arrived late points toward Sprig.
What the Qualtrics Acquisition Changes
Qualtrics now owns Qualtrics, Forsta, Confirmit, Decipher, FocusVision, Dapresy, InMoment, ReviewTrackers, and Rio SEO. That is most of the enterprise voice-of-customer category under one owner, with Medallia remaining the largest independent vendor.
Three things follow, and only the first is certain.
Vendor concentration is now real. An organization running InMoment for customer experience and Decipher for market research is running two products from the same owner, which weakens its position at renewal and concentrates roadmap risk.
Roadmap direction is unannounced. Neither Qualtrics nor Press Ganey has published a brand, product, or consolidation plan for InMoment. Anything a comparison page tells you about what happens next is speculation, including this one, which is why this guide describes the state of things rather than predicting the end of it.
Public signals are worth reading carefully and not over-reading. InMoment's own newsroom has published one item in 2026, the announcement that its parent company was acquired, and the item before it is dated July 30, 2025. InMoment's website currently carries a banner promoting Qualtrics' article about the acquisition. Its last independent placement in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Voice of the Customer Platforms was April 2025, its fourth consecutive appearance as a Leader under its own name.
None of that means the product is deteriorating. Publishing cadence is not product quality, and an acquired company frequently goes quiet during integration for entirely ordinary reasons.
It does mean the independence argument no longer works. Organizations that chose InMoment specifically as the alternative to Qualtrics no longer hold that position, and Forrester's analysis following the close advised InMoment clients to begin developing an RFP requirements list sooner rather than later, noting that how or whether Qualtrics integrates the platform remains to be seen.
For a renewal conversation, that is the material fact. Not that InMoment has become a worse product, but that the reason many teams bought it has stopped being true.

InMoment's central AI claim deserves to be stated in its own framing before it is tested.
InMoment describes AI-Powered Active Listening as a patented capability that intelligently listens and responds to customers in real time, eliciting not only more feedback but more valuable responses. The argument behind it is sound and well supported by decades of survey research. Open-text boxes produce thin answers. A respondent who is asked a relevant follow-up gives you a better one.
The capability is real and it is deployed at scale. InMoment applies it across surveys, and its analytics stack extends the same idea to unstructured sources, bringing raw audio, threaded conversations, and transcripts into a single analysis.
For a customer experience program, this is genuinely valuable. Richer verbatims mean better root-cause analysis, and better root-cause analysis is most of what a program office does with its feedback.
Testing the Premise
The premise holds. The question is what it is accountable for.
A better verbatim is a better input to interpretation. It is not a base, a quota, or a repeatable instrument. Active Listening improves the quality of what a self-selected respondent tells you, and it does not change who chose to respond, how many of them there were, or whether the same question asked next quarter will produce a comparable number.
That distinction is not a criticism of InMoment. It is a description of what the capability is designed to do, and a program office is generally right not to care, because it is acting on individual cases instead of defending an estimate.

Sprig applies AI at three points, and each agent is accountable for a different part of the work.
The Design Agent generates a complete study from an uploaded document, with response options, logic, and randomization already in place. It then checks its own output, detecting broken or conflicting logic, flagging unclear questions, estimating completion time, and simulating the study across personas before it goes live.
That last part is the meaningful difference. Reviewing a study before fielding is a methodological step, and Sprig automates a version of it rather than automating drafting alone.
The Field Agent manages conversational delivery and generates follow-up questions in real time based on responses. This is the direct analogue of Active Listening, and it should be described as one. Sprig reports up to a twofold improvement in completion rate from conversational delivery, which is Sprig's own figure with no published baseline, so treat it as a vendor claim, not an independent result.
AI follow-ups can be disabled per study. For a tracker that has to stay identical quarter over quarter, that switch matters more than the feature does.
The Synthesize Agent generates an evidence-backed report as responses arrive, with themes, summaries, and supporting quotes. Historically, researchers waited until fieldwork closed before analysis began. Reading results as they accumulate changes what a team can do about a study that is going wrong.
Rather Than Adding AI to Analysis, Sprig Applies It Before the Study Exists
The structural difference is where each platform's AI sits relative to the study.
InMoment's AI is strongest after feedback exists. It listens, transcribes, categorizes, summarizes, and drafts responses, and it does all of that well across a wider range of input types than Sprig handles.
Sprig's AI is strongest before feedback exists. A poorly designed survey cannot be rescued by great analytics, and most of the cost of a bad study is paid at design time.
Neither position is inherently better. A team drowning in unstructured feedback from six channels needs the first. A team that fields ten studies a quarter and cannot get them designed fast enough needs the second.
How Sprig Governs Agent Access to Research Data
One area has no published InMoment equivalent, and it is becoming a procurement question rather than a technical one.
Sprig publishes data governance controls for agent access covering how external AI tools reach research data. Access is scoped to the authenticated user's role, so an agent inherits permissions rather than bypassing them. Response retrieval is capped at 1,000 responses per call. Response data is not used to train models.
Two controls matter most to a security reviewer. Agents cannot launch or modify a live study, because a human approves every study in the application. And administrators hold an organization-wide kill switch that revokes agent access immediately.
No equivalent published governance documentation was found for InMoment. That is an absence in the public record, not a demonstrated gap, and a buyer should ask for it directly.
The reason this matters now is that security teams have started asking what an AI agent can do with customer data, and a vendor that has already published its answer moves through review faster than one assembling it during the review.
What Sprig's AI Does Not Do
Sprig's agents draft, recommend, and check. Researchers remain responsible for validating the methodology.
Two limits are worth stating plainly, because they run against the argument this chapter is making. Sprig does not publish its estimation methodology for MaxDiff. It also publishes no guidance on weighting, sample size, or statistical power.
For a platform positioning itself around defensible measurement, that is a real gap in the documentation, and buyers who need to defend estimates to a methodologist should ask for the details directly instead of assuming them.

Sprig's advantage is scope. Its AI participates in designing the study, checking it, fielding it, and reporting on it, and it publishes governance controls for agent access that InMoment does not.
